RETFORD, of Carlton Paynel, and of Castlethorpe, co. Lincoln. He d.
30 July (or 20 Aug.) 1431. His widow (who occurs as such 7 Jan.
1431/2) m., 3rdly, Sir John HERON, of Northumberland. She d. 2 Feb.
1458/9.
It appears that she was already the widow of Sir John Heron when she married William Clinton, as she is described in 37 Henry VI [1458 or 1459] as Mary, who was the wife of William Clynton, knight, and formerly of John Heron, knight.
