For this, William has granted to John the tenements and rent together with the homages and all services of Ralph Basset of Sapcote, knight, William Flaunuyle, knight, Richard de Leycestre, Ellen, who was the wife of Richard Kendale of Sapcote, Ralph Kendale of Sapcote, John Basset of Sapcote, Robert Colle of Sapcote, Richard Pakeman of Sapcote, Richard Wilcok of Sapcote, Robert Walkere of Sapcote, John Hendeman of Sapcote and Julian Bek of Sharneford' and their heirs, in respect of all the tenements which they held before of William Mareschal in the aforesaid vill, and has rendered the tenements to John Mareschal in the court, to hold to John, of William and his heirs for the life of John, rendering yearly 1 rose at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, and doing to the chief lords all other services. And after the decease of John the tenements and rent shall remain to Agnes, who was the wife of Thomas de Walcote, to hold of William and his heirs by the aforesaid services for the life of Agnes. And after the decease of Agnes, the tenements and rent shall remain to Robert de Charneles and the heirs of his body, to hold of William and his heirs by the aforesaid services for ever. In default of such heirs, successive remainders (1) to John Mareschal, brother of the same Robert [sic], and the heirs of his body and (2) to John, son of Thomas de Walcote, and the heirs of his body. In default of such heirs, the tenements and rent shall revert to William and his heirs, quit of the heirs of [John Mareschal the parson and Agnes] and also of the other heirs of Robert, John Mareschal, brother of Robert, and John, son of Thomas, to hold of the chief lords for ever.
