Some corrections and additions to the Complete Peerage: Volume 2: Butler

BUTLER

Volume 2, page 448:
He [Theobald Butler (d.1230)] m., 2ndly (shortly after 4 Sep. 1225, when the King requests such marriage), Rohese, only da. and h. of Nicholas DE VERDON, of Alton, co. Stafford ...

Rohese was the widow of William Perceval de Somery (dead before 20 June 1222) - see Somery.

Volume 2, page 448, note d:
Maud, a da. [of Theobald Butler (d. 1230)], m. John Fitz Alan ... who was living 1286/7. See vol. i, p. 239.

This date is a misreading of volume 1, p.239. It was Richard d'Amundeville, a subsequent husband of Maud, not John Fitz Alan, who was living in 1286/7.

Volume 2, page 449:
His widow [i.e. Joan, the widow of Theobald Butler (he d. 1285)], who on 26 Oct. and 21 Nov. 1299 had livery of her pourparty of her afsd. br. Richard's lands, d. 1303, between 25 Feb. and 26 May.

Joan died 4 April 1303 [Calendar of Inquisitions Post Mortem, vol. 4, no 157 (p. 99)].
