Some corrections and additions to the Complete Peerage: Volume 4: Dorset (PROPOSED CORRECTIONS)

DORSET

Volume 4, pages 419, 420:
He [Thomas (Grey), Marquess of Dorset (d. 1530)] m., in 1509, Margaret,(a) widow of William MEDLEY (living 6 Jan. 1509), da. of Sir Robert WOTTON, of Boughton Malherbe, Kent, by Anne, da. of Sir Henry BELKNAP.
Page 420, note a:
Dict. Nat. Biog. says she was his 2nd wife, and that he had previously m. Eleanor, da. of Oliver St. John, of Lydiard Tregoze, Wilts. V.G.

Douglas Richardson, in August 2002, produced supporting evidence for this previous marriage - Eleanor being called "lady Harington" in a late 15th-century pedigree of the St John family (and Thomas being styled Lord Harington in his mother's right) [citing Collectanea Topographica et Genealogica, vol. 1, pp. 310, 311 (1834)]. This reference must be dated to between 1482 (when it was planned to marry Thomas to Anne, the daughter of Thomas Saint Leger) and 1501 (when Thomas succeeded to his father's titles).
