m. Geoffrey de
Clinton the Chamberlain (Round, in Ancestor, no. 11,
pp. 153-57; cf. Pipe Roll, 31 Hen. I, p. 105).
Peter Sutton, in August 2002, pointed out the chronological difficulty of Agnes marrying Geoffrey I de Clinton, if she were the daughter of Roger by his wife Gundred.
M.S. Hagger [in The fortunes of a Norman family: The Verduns in England, Ireland and Wales, 1066-1316 (2001)] says instead that Agnes married Geoffrey II de Clinton (but it is unclear whether he was chamberlain, as Agnes's husband is known to have been). In any case, the chronological difficulty would remain if Agnes were married as early as 31 Henry I. This may indicate that Roger had another wife before Gundred.
