MULTON OF GILSLAND

Volume 9, page 406:
He [Thomas de Multon (d. c. 1270/1)] m. Maud, da. and h. of Hubert DE VAUX of Gilsland.(h)
Note h:
Close Rolls, 1237-42, p. 188 ...

Thomas and Maud were married by 20 Henry III [1235-1236], when there was a fine between them and Hubert de Vaux, concerning "Gerlingham" [Surlingham, Norfolk] and Denham [Suffolk] [Walter Rye, A calendar of the feet of fines for Suffolk, p. 38 (1900); Hubert's widow Aline later claimed that Denham was an appurtenance of Surlingham, which she had been given in dower (see p. 405, note e)].
